Series Addresses Foundation Forming System and International Building Code, Grading/Site Development, Performance in Expansive Soils
PLEASANT HILL, Calif. (June 9, 2008) Pacific Housing Systems ™ today announced the availability of three White Papers regarding the WAFFLEMAT foundation forming system. The first, released in January, provides information about WAFFLEMAT and the new revisions & requirements in the recently-adopted International Building Code. The second paper, published in March, focuses on issues surrounding the System and grading/site development. The third, distributed in June, contains a detailed geotechnical and structural engineering examination about the performance of WAFFLEMAT when used in expansive soils.
Tom Richards, President and CEO of Pacific Housing Systems, said: “The new papers add to the excellent technical and product content regarding WAFFLEMAT already contained on our website. Whether the reader is an engineer, developer, construction manager, purchasing agent or risk/insurance specialist, we’ve worked very hard to compile, produce and post the key and pertinent information that will make their research into every aspect of the System easier and more productive.”
Jim Winslow, CTO of PHS, noted: “WAFFLEMAT requires no presoaking, no trenching, no footings, no earth spoils. It possesses superior stiffness, yet resists swelling from over-watering, surface drainage, and flooding. It requires less depth of plumbing laterals beneath the WAFFLEBOXES. It’s not only the easiest system to set up I’ve seen in 25 years of construction, but because the boxes are made of polypropylene plastic, there’s an additional barrier to help shield against moisture. And, those are the things we want to make sure every builder knows, and the reason we developed and produced these papers.”
